Vesper ("Vesper," "we," "us"), [BUSINESS ADDRESS], provides an AI voice and text companion. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. In short: your conversations are yours. We don't sell them, and we don't share what you talk about with employers.
1. Vesper is an AI
Vesper is an artificial intelligence, not a person. Every call begins: "This is Vesper, an AI companion, not a person. This call is recorded." No human listens to calls live. Authorized staff may review a recording or transcript only for safety, support you've asked for, legal compliance, or quality review, under strict access controls.
2. Information we collect
- Account details: your phone number, email, name (if you give it at checkout), and confirmation that you are 18 or older.
- Calls and texts: audio recordings and transcripts of calls with Vesper, call times and durations, and texts we send you (such as payment or plan links).
- Preferences: your account settings.
- Billing: plan, payment status, and billing history. Card details are collected and stored by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Employer details: for employer accounts, the employer's billing contact and a list of enrolled employees (name or work email).
- Website and device data: basic analytics such as pages visited, browser type, and approximate location, collected using cookies or similar tools.
3. How we use information
We use your information to: provide calls; track minutes on your plan; process payments; keep the Service safe (including detecting crisis situations and possible underage use); provide support; improve call quality and reliability; send account and service messages; and comply with the law.
We do not use your conversations for advertising. [Confirm against AI provider terms: "We do not allow our AI providers to train their models on your conversations."]
4. Call recording and consent
Calls are recorded and transcribed, and we tell you so at the start of every call. By continuing the call, you consent to recording. If you don't want a call recorded, please end the call; Vesper cannot run without it.
5. How long we keep information
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Call audio recordings | 90 days, then deleted (longer only if needed for a safety or legal matter) |
| Transcripts | While your account is open, until you delete them, or 30 days after account closure |
| Consent records | For the period required by law (typically at least 5 years) |
| Billing records | As required for tax and accounting (typically 7 years) |
| Free-trial phone number record | Kept to enforce one free call per number |
When you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except records we must keep by law.
6. Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We share information only with:
- Service providers who help us run Vesper — such as voice AI and speech processing providers (including a backup provider used during outages), telephony carriers, cloud hosting, customer support tools, and Stripe for payments — under contracts that limit their use of your data to serving Vesper.
- Employers (employer accounts): only aggregate, anonymous usage numbers. Employers never receive names linked to usage, or call content.
- Safety and law: when we believe in good faith it's necessary to protect someone from serious harm, or when required by law or valid legal process.
- Business changes: if Vesper is involved in a merger or acquisition, under this policy's protections.
7. Crisis situations
If you talk about suicide or self-harm, Vesper pauses, shares the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and offers to connect you. If you choose to be connected, we pass your call to 988. We don't contact anyone else on your behalf unless we believe there is an imminent risk of serious harm and the law permits it.
8. Adults only
Vesper is only for people 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we end the interaction and delete the information.
9. Calls and texts
Vesper doesn't place scheduled or outbound calls. You call in whenever you want to talk. If we text you about your account, reply STOP anytime to opt out. We keep a record of opt-outs to honor them.
10. Security
We encrypt data in transit and at rest, limit staff access to those who need it, send plan links only by text to the phone number on the account, and regularly review our safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your phone secure and tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.
11. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (for example, California and other U.S. states), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. Contact us at [PRIVACY EMAIL]. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights. We'll verify your identity before acting on a request.
12. Cookies
Our website uses essential cookies to work properly and limited analytics cookies to understand how it's used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
13. Where data is stored
Vesper is based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the U.S.
14. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email, text, or on our website before they take effect.
